  1. That's a darn interesting selection. Quite a few of my favourites are there. And given the number of South-East Asian movies that you watch, I'm not at all surprised at the no. of movies from those countries that have found place here - an I'd say, that was quite well deserved as a lot of wonderful movies have come from the troika of South Korea, Hong Kong & Japan, in this decade.

Right now I too am in the process of finalising my long list for the decade by watching all the acclaimed movies of the decade that I haven't watched. The intent is to be in a position of making my own comprehensive (and hopefully, even definitive) list of best of the decade sometime in early 2010.

On a different note, more than any collection of absolute 'best of...', what I like more about lists is the fact that any list we make is indicative, in more ways than one, of who we are and our current mindset. I'm sure you too will find a lot of unsaid words hidden in the list you've presented.

  2. yes, one thing is clear too: there are a lot of great films I didn't see!

Speaking of 'current' mindset, I didn't just appropriate my "5 star" list here, and did include some "4 star" films. Some films have a lasting impact and others creep up on you. I tried to find a balance between what I personally enjoyed and what I think others will appreciate. Or something like that.

    I await your list.
